dear jemma & co.
i thought it might be enlightening or brightening to deep dive into the white rabbit hole and digest the significance of this (non)colour.
the first part is received from higher consciousness aka old soul doris while the second is a straight to the brush point answer and then part three — a bonus audio response from our resident paint guy aka 8footwalls who lends his artists lens on white.
part 1.
white is the highest spectrum of light available on earth and surrounding planetary systems. white light is a stream of consciousness from the divine. it is the source of purity, of grace and of invisible spectrums. the symbolic meaning of white is a higher connection to all that exists on earth.
white is significant in representing divinity as a whole, the dove who carries peace and serenity, and the channel of light consciousness.
all the colours of the rainbow combine to create white — it is the pure spectrum of light. it allows you to see through the material and it hides nothing. it is the yin to the yang. it holds everything and nada all at once.
use white sparingly or graciously. be neutral or be bias to the lightness of white. do not fight white. allow it to be in your space. white holds space for colour to exist on earth and surroundings. white is the base to everything in nature. start with white and build colour, texture and shape upon it.
don’t be afraid to be in the lightness of white. don’t be afraid of seeing white for what white is — the full spectrum and nothing all at once. it has a place in your palette if you can pick a white that reflects the warm or cool in you.
white works to layer upon. allow white to draw colours to it as you go & flow with your casa. colours will attract themselves to you and your abode as time goes on living in the space. a colour will feel right in vibration, tone and present itself — if you allow it.
a neutral base is good for folks who want to minimise their surroundings and create a sense of serenity — as it does not jar or saturate the senses. the absence of colour allows the mind to rest, to pause without a cause. so when in doubt, begin with white and layer from there.
part 2.
the white we have used for our entire house, studio, the shack and basically everything within reach of my paint brush is natural white. for cabinetry the colour is beige royal from dulux (no affiliation).
part 3.
we speak to paint guy in our first ever audio interview (otherwise known as a podcast however that feels too daunting to call it that right now) where he illuminates and sheds light on white.
