dear doris. what is home? what on earth am i doing here?
issue 19 ♡ home is a state of being. home is not of earth.
dear doris. what is home? what on earth am i doing here? love every human who feels alien, gaia.
dear alien(ated) humans,
i share my lens as a (second-hand) stylist in part I then tune into the higher self to journal notes on why we choose earth as home and what home is from a higher perspective in part II. this issue came through as a dedication to anyone who has ever felt alien, dis-connected, or dis-placed on planet earth and longing to find a sense of home.
please note that ‘god’ could be substituted for any vernacular or venerable you prefer and heaven can be replaced with the spiritual plane that aligns with you. i have recorded a voice-over of part II for subscribers who prefer to listen. press ▶️ above to tune in (5 mins).
part I.
home is where you feel at ease. home is where you can simply be. i feel an abode should always consider and cater to all the inhabitants, be truly comfortable and user-friendly while being aesthetically easy on the eyes as an aftermath. the aim is to create a living quarters for the homebodies to truly be and for visitors to feel that way too upon arrival.
home is a balancing act of taste and tone. it’s fun to sway between masculine and feminine elements in spaces — that someone exuding masculine energy could feel at home in the surroundings with textures of timber, worn leathers, metals and cooler tones. while someone erring more on the feminine scale would feel equally at ease with the same space softened with washed linens, florals, warm accents in glass, rugs and objects & art. my idea of a good time is sliding along the scale until it feels right at home and tone somewhere between venus and mars.
every souls idea of comfort ranges but the use of natural non-synthetic materials — linen, cotton, wool and leather stand the test of time and wear beautifully. classic vintage furnishings and antiques will always add character, intrigue and nostalgia to a room.
lean into an era that speaks to you and allow yourself to be open to draw those pieces to you. if you’re not sure where to start, begin to observe and take in the details and make notes of what catches your eye, your attention and sets your heart alight.
home is where the heart is. home is a reflection of the interiors of the heart space, in physical form. so we fill ours with pieces we love — it’s as simple as that. what we have collected over travels, been passed down, created by offspring or friends, that represents a part of us/family, that conjures memories or moments of high vibrations. it is soul satisfying to slowly build the persona of your home and allow her character to shine through. like any long-lasting and loving relationship, its an open, two-way communication between her bones and your intuitive action.
part II.
we land where we land for many reasons — it’s a mathematical calculation and astrological consideration plus a soul contract — of being where you need to be for your formative years in life, that may differ significantly from your previous incarnation. your destination or destiny-point is significant as it marks where the stars aligned the moment you are born and thrust into this world. it is a slingshot into consciousness, a breath of earthly air, that is heavy and dense comparatively to the lightness in heaven/higher realms.
your destin(y)ation is a marker in time, space and point in the great astrological chart of astronomy and aerodynamics and auric field all combined to calculate the ‘right’ time for you to drop into existence. it is a planned mission — always. there is nothing willy-nilly about it.
you land your craft inside a mothers womb. from there it grows and eventually ejected into the world on course for final landing. from there, you begin to hover and slowly span your wings to fly. but you will be guided either in a way that encourages one to fly or you will be clipped, so that you must re-generate new wings (of desire).
